Funeral Arrangements

Arrangements can be made at our funeral home in Droitwich or in the comfort of your own home. Lee will provide assistance with all arrangements from liaising with ministers, celebrants, churches and crematoria. We can help compile death announcements for submission to the local newspapers, help and guidance with Order of Service, floral tributes, wakes and whatever else you and your family require.

Funeral Charges & Fees

These are made up of two parts and a written estimate will be provided when the funeral has been arranged or shortly afterwards.

Funeral Directors' Fees

These charges are made to the Funeral Directors for providing professional services which include the conveyance of the deceased to our private Chapel of Rest (NOTE: all located on the one premises), care of the deceased, the necessary documentation, a standard coffin (which can be upgraded), a traditional hearse and four bearers.

Other Fees

These are known as third party disbursements which every Funeral Director should charge the same price. These payments are paid on your behalf to the minister, celebrant, humanist, cemetery, crematorium, florist, for Order of Service, news paper notice (obituary and thanks for sympathy) if required. Also an urn/casket for ashes and the doctor's fees if required. Also any interment fees.

Natural Burial

A natural burial has become popular in recent years and there are a number of grounds to choose from within Hereford and Worcestershire. Should you wish to hear about this option, we can take you through each step to see whether this is the best option for you or a loved one.

Chapel of Rest

Our Chapel of Rest is a place for you to come and visit your loved one who is resting with us. Visits to the Chapel are by appointment and can be any time that suits you. Lee will be on hand to show you into the Chapel where you can spend this private time with your loved one, or alternatively remain with you should you wish.

The Coroner

Coroners investigate deaths that have been reported to them if it appears that:

the death was violent or unnatural,

the cause of death is unknown, or

the person died in prison, police custody, or another type of state detention.

In these cases, the Coroner must investigate to find out, who has died and how, when, and where they died. This is for legal purposes as well as the families.

Cremated Remains

Should you decide on cremation, the question of what to do with the ashes afterwards is one that you may wish to consider carefully.

There is no need to make a decision immediately; Lee will store the ashes for you in our Chapel room for however long you need to make your decision at no charge.

Vehicles

The Funeral Director will always attend the service, giving support and guidance throughout. The hearse with chauffeur and bearers are also an essential part of our service to you. We can provide limousines for the funeral, each limousine can carry six mourners. It is also possible to arrange a horse-drawn hearse, motorcycle hearse, or other forms of hearse transport if this is something you would prefer.

Direct Cremations

A direct cremation is a practical and lower-cost option, which separates the cremation process from the funeral ceremony.

A cremation is held without any service or mourners present.

Following the cremation of your loved one, the ashes can be scattered in the garden of remembrance or returned to you the family a few days later.

We offer direct cremations which would be at a local crematorium, on a day of our choosing.

Why choose a Prepaid Funeral Plan?

By choosing a prepaid funeral plan, this is a simple and practical way to let your loved ones know
that everything is taken care of. Some of the main benefits include:

• Reduces financial burden – as the funeral plan will be paid up front or in monthly
instalments, this can reduce the financial burden on loved ones when the time comes.

• Can alleviate emotional stress - planning your funeral beforehand helps to alleviate
added stress, but also provides a caring solution to decrease emotional stress on your
loved ones.

• Funeral Director professional fees are fixed – although funeral plan prices may fluctuate
due to inflation, the price of the funeral directors professional services is fixed at the
time the plan has been bought – meaning that your plan is safe for years to come.

• Contribution to disbursements – your plan can include a contribution to third party
costs, such as; the crematorium cost, a minister or officiant to carry out the service,
flowers or obituary notices. Your contribution to disbursements is not guaranteed to be
covered and your family or estate may have to make an additional contribution at the
time of need. A list of potential disbursements are available in our terms and conditions.

• Individual personalisation – by choosing a prepaid funeral plan, you can decide on the
theme of your own funeral yourself and ensure that everything is to your taste and
personal preference ahead of the time.

By choosing a local independent funeral director with Open Prepaid Funerals, you can receive a high-
quality experience along with the expertise required – allowing you to be safe in the knowledge your
funeral is taken care of when the time comes. Simply get in touch with us and we will arrange an
appointment with an Open Adviser or you can contact Open directly on 0330 660 0072 to get the
process started.
